Jason completed his PhD on Context-Aware Software in 2001 and has since been working in the field of mobile computing in both academia and industry. He worked as lead research and developer of location-aware platforms and services in a start-up in Germany before launching his own start-up focused on mobile multimedia guides for visitors to museums, zoos and other tourist attractions. After joining Uminho as a postdoc, Jason has explored his personal research interests in new forms and applications of mobile devices, and is currently investigating new ways mobile technology can aid both traditional tourist guides and also ecology field guides.
