UX in the time of AI - A discussion

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss UX in the time of AI - A discussion held on Sep 26, 2023. Feel free to ask questions or raise any particular issue to be raised during the discussion.

I know I’m a week late but i still wanted to jump on on this important topic:
I have spoken with a number of people that are utilizing AI for trying to creating some aspect of content(from books to articles and even trying to get a layout for a specific type of webpage), where as i currently see AI as better for assisting us like a force multiplier. Example using ChatGPT: “Can you give me 10 questions to ask a user of a e commerce website to help understand what they like and dislike about using the site?”

This style of questioning I find to be very useful even in highly context dependent situations because I can offer ChatGPT my best few questions and ask it to riff on those to find other good questions or better worded questions.

Another way I see it as extremely useful is to summarize notes in order to identify patterns that I may have missed. If i have kept notes from all of my stakeholder meeting and done a decent job, the AI can help me identify core themes and patterns, and then I can use it to help move from long form notes as the basis of the case study at the end to a few variations on the paragraph. Or even to reword a section that I cant seem to find the right flow of words for or if I keep letting the sentences run long.

These examples i provided use the power of the current AI in a “local” format versus the perceived impression of GeneralAI. When used as chatGPT as GeneralAI we get misleading and incorrect data points but as it currently stands, ChatGPT is a more of Applied Statistics bot and not a Next Gen Google with complete accuracy.

I like using ChatGPT to boost my question generation abilities and to uncover local patterns but i’m not to confident in its current “Fact Ascertaining Capabilities”

we will get together in 90 minutes! don’t miss it
