An Evening with Malala Yousafzai in Leeds
Meet-Up Details
Nobel Peace Prize recipient Malala Yousafzai will be making a very rare public appearance this August at the first direct arena in Leeds.
At the age of 15 in October 2012, Malala was shot by the Taliban while travelling home from school in her home-town of the Swat Valley in northern Pakistan. Malala was flown to Birmingham to receive treatment at the Queen Elizabeth hospital and by March 2013 was well enough to return to school.
Malala now lives in Birmingham with her family and continues to campaign for the right of every child to go to school.
Thanks to her bravery and dedication, Malala has been honoured around the world and is the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, alongside Indian child rights campaigner Kailash Satyarthi. She is also the author of the international bestseller ‘I am Malala’, and was named one of ‘The Most Influential People in the World’ by Time magazine in 2013.
Malala will be speaking about her life and experiences as well as taking part in a Q&A session during her appearance at the first direct arena on Sunday 7 August.
