Meetup Details

Hi IxDF Manchester, #DryJanuary is finished. Let's meet up over beers!

Last time the overall feel was that people wanted to discuss problems and issues they're facing. Whether it's to do with the craft of UX specifically or a people problem with stakeholders, here's a non-judgemental forum to meet each other and share stories and methods to get over your problems.

We have a few regulars now, so it'd be good to see some new faces.

Also, we have a Facebook group now for those that prefer it to the IxDF platform. Check it out => https://www.facebook.com/groups/idf.manchester

Meetup Conversation

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss Beers, Wine and your UX Problems held on Feb 18, 2019. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Excited to meet you all on Monday 18th February!!

I've had a question in mind for a while regards UX so I thought it would be great to ask you here, and see what are your thoughts?

When you work in UX (whichever role) do you think it's best to know your product/service inside out or keep a bit of a distance to be able to see 'problems' more easily?

I've always worked with a bit of a distance to the services/products that I worked on and due to that I always came up with lots and lots of questions. So sometimes when I work with a person who knows product inside out, they use some acronyms - but me not knowing all made me question it - is it clear to users?

Of course, not being an expert in the full product/service doesn't make me The User and we definitely need user research, but I've noticed that in my experience it helps to build the user research.

What do you think? :)

Meetup attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meetup by clicking “Attend this meetup” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meetups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meetup (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meetups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
