Date: February 8th. Please let us know if it doesn’t work for you.

Meet-Up Discussion

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss Casual Hangout held on Feb 8, 2024. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Hey Raza!

Just to confirm whether this is in Toronto, Ontario and the actual time... I’m in Mississauga and would love to meet up with like-minded individuals.

Yes! Toronto, Ontario. I'm flexible with the actual time and hoping to get feedback on what time works for everyone.

Hi Raza, are we able to do a hybrid meeting? Where I join virtually while the rest join in person?

Good idea Leke, however it will be a casual hangout with no set agenda or topic. Let's see how many people want to attend.

I also wished the meet-up had a virtual option included for some of us that can’t attend in person. Maybe next time.

I also vote for a downtown location. Happy to help with coordination if you need help.

Thanks Wendy. Any ideas on where to meetup?

I would also like to join and prefer downtown location.

Thanks Simin. Any ideas on where to meet?

Hi Raza!
I would like to join, and I also prefer the downtown location.

Good idea Leke. However it's just a casual hangout with no set topic or agenda, so I wonder if it will be conducive to a virtual meet up?

Thanks Wendy! Any ideas for a location?

With the size of the group there aren’t a lot of places that can accommodate and won’t have a minimum spend per person. I can think of a few downtown: I would suggest either

Northern Maverick (King/Bathurst) - they have a happy hour from 3-6

Mill St Brewery (Distillery)

Playa Cabana (Yonge/St. Clair) - they also have a happy hour

Those are off the top of my head.

Thanks Simin. Any suggestions on where to meet?

Please note I accidently selected 6-8AM. I have now changed it to 6PM!

Hello everyone. It’s great to see that you’re organizing this hangout Raza! I would like to join and meet you design folks from Toronto :) Downtown location is perfect for me.

Hi everyone, I’m new here

Since a few people are interested in attending, I want to suggest C'est What on Front and Church St.

It's close to Union station for out of towners, and accessible by subway for everyone else.

Also a great place for groups and reasonably priced.

Please let me know if this place does not work for you.

Reminder, this is an evening event for 6PM (and not 6AM as I initially set it up accidentally!)

I wish to come but I am in London Ontario, =(

Hey everyone! I'd be glad to join and attend the hangout. So, it's going to happen at C’est What (67 Front St E), Thursday 6PM, right? :)

Yes.

Hello everyone! A reminder that we will meet tomorrow at C’est What around 6PM. Hope to see you then.

They don't take reservations but I will try and set up close to the pool tables in the back. If not, I will let the staff know where we are seated so please ask when you get in.

My number is 647 298 5044. Text me or message me on WhatsApp or Signal if you have questions or if you can't find us!

Hello Raza, I think C’est What is closed today after 4:00pm. Are we still meeting at the same location?

Hello, yes I checked too and I suppose they are. Are we still meeting at the same location?

Sorry everyone, I just found out C’est What is closed for a private event. I will update on the location shortly. Suggestions welcome.

We've updated our location to Bier Market on 58 Esplanade.

Hello everyone, what’s the plan B, I am in front of C’est What :) Are we gonna meet here?

Bier Market on 58 Esplanade.

Hello everyone, I am at the Bier Market on 58 Esplanade which is a few minutes away. You'll find me at the bar wearing an orange sweater.

Hey razza, How’s it going there?

“They say its not about the destination…its the Journey”

A good one we had today.

Dropping a quick note to let you how awesome it was to hang out with you all at the recent meetup. Seriously, it was a blast connecting with fellow designers and chatting about all things creative.

The discussions we had were super interesting and got more brain gears turning, chatting over topics from Ai ,Career, latest tools of the trade and where we are with implementing them…….” + im still trying to remember that Movie @shraddha mentioned…….lol”

It's always refreshing to bounce ideas off each other and soak up everyone's unique perspectives.

Big shoutout to all the ladies who attended too! @shraddha & @sandhu Your insights and energy really added to the vibe of the meetup.

Oh, and I've attached some pics from the event so you can relive the fun. Check 'em out! ^_^

Thanks again to @razz for setting it up and the cool @sercan who showed up…the meetup was a success. #backtothebeautyoftheUiUxjourney

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
