Meet-Up Details

Hi IxDF Los Angeles, a group of UX enthusiasts (including myself) are hosting a UX Community Jam/hackathon this weekend, March 26-28th. It's a 3-day sprint to rethink/redesign the online vaccine registration process, and you can sign up in a team or asked to be placed in a team. We've also lined up some great judges for the event, including Carri Craver, who was recently featured on major news networks for creating the site Find Vaccine USA. The event is free, and you can sign up through Eventbrite and check out our website:Community Jam: Rethinking Vaccine Registration

Meet-Up Conversation

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss Community Jam: Rethinking the Vaccine Registration Process held from Mar 26-Mar 28th, 2021. Yes, it's a 3-day hackathon (the template for IDF doesn't allow for multi-day events). We'll have an optional cocktail/mocktail hour at 6PM Thursday, March 25th, and the hackathon is Friday night - Sunday afternoon, virtual of course. The organizers are based on the West Coast of the USA, but this an open event to all.

Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Additionally, we're hosting an icebreaker event tomorrow from 6PM-6:30 via Google Meet where you can ask questions about the event. I'll update with the link tomorrow.

Here's a video promo of the event made by an IDF member and co-facilitator, Zachary Stewart! Zach is based in Seattle and will be sending out an invite to IDF Seattle.

Hey!

Here's the event brite link (again), that will register you for the event this weekend: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/community-jam-rethink...

We have a slack channel where we are posting the announcements, etc.

We're also having an optional cocktail/mocktail hour tonight (Thurs 3/25) at 6PM so we can answer your questions. We're using Google Meet:

Our hackathon kicks off tonight! Register via eventbrite for access to our slack channel, which provides links to the Google Meet. See you there!

Thank you to everyone who participated, it was a great event!

In about 36 hours, we had 4 teams come up with unique solutions to vaccine distribution. They each submitted a slide deck and delivered a 15-min presentation with a problem statement, customer journey, and prototype. We had judges from Facebook and an independent UX designer who was featured on GMA for her own vaccine rollout solution for Texas. They were generous about feedback so participants could iterate further and add this to their portfolios and/or present it to an organization as a deployable solution. We also held a career Q&A after the event with the judges.

Cheers!

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
