Meet-Up Discussion

I am starting a new contract that day, if I can, I will attend.

Hello Estela.

Is this an online meeting? Could you please provide more details?

Hi Natalia, I would suggest the Grounds Cafe at Milton Park or Espresso Library. You can vote here:https://linkto.run/p/P2MKWG8W

Hi. It's great to see that we have Cambridge participants. I could either organise an online meeting or we could meet for coffee in Cambridge in Milton Park. I am open to suggestions.

Hi. I would suggest the Grounds Cafe Milton, otherwise please suggest on the poll below.

Hi All

Joined the group last week but missed out on this last virtual meet up. I'm a sort of newbie (long story) with no portfolio to speak of so would really love the chance to see how it's done and chat generally. Look forward to getting to know you.

James

Hi James. Thank you for your message. We are going to have another online meeting this Thursday. Despite the theme will be around a workshop for a design sprint and ideas on how to perform this in a remote environment I am happy to allocate a bit of time to speak about portfolios. Alternatively, I can book another session for this purpose.

Regards,

Estela Gaspar

Hi Estela

Thanks for your message, it's early days for me a the moment miles away from getting a portfolio together so it can be discussed at a more relevant meeting another time.

I've never participated in a design sprint would it be ok with you and the other participants if I sat in on the process? I work for an exhibition design consultancy (currently furloughed) and have sat in on and chaired discussions of design briefs, how to approach the solution, the presentation, timescales, resources etc. I'm guessing it's not far off what a design sprint would be for the development of software so I would really appreciate sitting in and contributing in anyway that I can, would that be ok?

Thanks.

James

Hi. You are welcome to participate. It will be great to listen to your experience and views. I suggested a hypothetical case study for solutions of how to do this kind of activity online, since normally everyone sits together and sketches side by side, brainstorming ideas. Maybe we can come up with new ideas that could lead to a potential software solution that companies could use, something interactive between teams online, instead of just video for instance, which can become one sided. But the main objective is that by trying to do this online we will experience this situation ourselves and at same time train this phase of the design thinking process.

It’s a similar process of discovery as you said but in this case we will specify a user/users, users needs, tasks, actions, process. It’s also about the process itself... if you were doing this online how would you do it, what difficulties you could encounter... what could work and what wouldn’t... what would be your frustrations and possible wins.

Sounds great Estela very much up my street and looking forward to it. Will you be sending out new Zoom meeting details if so please do include me, thank you!

Hi James, It will be great to have your expertise during the event. the Zoom details are here:

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
