Meet-Up Details

Hello IxDF Barcelona Members,

We are thrilled to invite you to our very first meetup of the IxDF Barcelona Local Group this season! Let's come together to kick off an exciting series of events that will inspire, educate, and connect our vibrant community of UX designers.

Agenda:

1. Welcome and Introduction

  • A brief welcome speech by your Group Leaders Esther Fuldauer and Alessandro Senato.

  • Introduction to the Interaction Design Foundation and the purpose of this meetup.

2. Icebreaker Activity

  • Let's get to know each other with a fun "Two Truths and a Lie" game, sharing our unique design experiences.

3. Community Introductions

  • Each attendee will have a moment to introduce themselves, share their current role, design experience, and what they hope to contribute to our community.

4. Group Discussion: Drafting Next Event

  • An open floor to discuss ideas for our future events: potential venues, speakers, and topics.

  • Identify volunteers for roles like venue scouting, speaker outreach, and event planning.

5. Action Items and Next Steps

  • Summarize the key points from our discussion.

  • Outline the next steps and assign initial tasks to our volunteers.

  • Announce any follow-up meetings or communication plans.

6. Networking

Enjoy some informal mingling and get to know your fellow designers better.

Thank you to everyone who joined our kickoff event! It was fantastic to meet each other and share our passion for UX. It was also great to talk with other designers about UX—we should do it more often! 🙂

We’ve begun to identify some topics for our upcoming workshops and will be reaching out to local experts in Barcelona to speak on:

  • Accessibility and designing for disabilities

  • The future of AI in design

  • What product design will look like in five years

  • Mobility startups and smart cities

  • Service design

  • UX research

  • Gamification

  • Case studies

We also came up with some exciting ideas for activities within the community:

  • Workgroups to build Use Cases for portfolios and help each other get unstuck

  • Internal workshops for hands-on experience with UX tools and methodologies

  • UX Café: informal meetups to chat about UX or non-UX topics

  • Accountability partners to support each other in reaching our goals

And don’t forget the Hackathon! This will be our big, final event for the 2024/2025 season.

Finally, we agreed to use Discord for ongoing discussions and workgroups. Here’s the link: https://discord.gg/2vKpgBmb. We’ll be organizing the layout and setting up rules soon.

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
