Designing for Performance: The Fast X and the Furious U

Performant Web Retrospective

1. The Fast and the Furious (2001)

2. Fast 2 Furious (2003)

3. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)

4. Fast & Furious (2009)

5. Fast Five (2011)

6. Fast & Furious 6 (2013)

7. Furious 7 (2015)

8. The Fate of the Furious (2017)

9. Future

This will be 9 part presentation based on the timeline of a series of action films that is also an excellent time span to reflect on UX as the “hot new thing” and what made many companies think “we need some of that" with focus on what makes performant design fast, simple, accessible, universal, and essential part of good user experience.

Each session will be 20-30 minutes long, reflect on that time period, and we can hopefully make it a collaborative effort. I will start the retrospective at the first regional meetup with example session and invite others to participate. I also encourage others to join and share your own experiences, connect and help create a forum for all interaction design members, professionals and students alike to meet and greet.

I reached out to few members on Linkedin and if there is anyone interested in doing presentation, workshop, podcast, wish to showcase your product or company, and have any other ideas let me know.

Looking forward to seeing you on April 16.

Wow, this looks awesome.

I'm a new student and won't have much to contribute, but I can't wait to be in the room for this discussion.

Hi, I am one of the newest members to join the community. My name is Akinmade; pronounced 'Her-kin-mar-day". Looking forward to meet all the attendants on Tuesday.

Please log in or join us to post comments in the conversation.

Meetup attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meetup by clicking “Attend this meetup” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meetups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meetup (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meetups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
