Meet-Up Conversation

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss Katy, TX meetup held on Jan 9, 2019. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Hey guys, I know we are a ways away from this event but I was thinking we could try using the lean coffee format for discussion. If you aren't familiar with this, its basically where everyone chips in by writing on a 'post-it' note to share a (wicked) design problem they are experiencing at work (or any specific topic they wish to discuss and learn about) and then votes on which topics to start with.

We will be upvoting topics/questions to discuss at the meeting ... so think of a question you'd like to ask on your drive to the meetup! Freebee giveaway for a lucky attendee to give a little motivation for those of you who are sitting on the fence. Just come it'll be fun and worth your while.

Great discussion tonight. Thank you all for the information and conversation. I'm looking forward to the next one!

It was great getting to meet everyone last night. We shared stories, helped each other on real projects, and discussed ways to advance in the field.

We worked through two questions that were upvoted, 1)what is the best software development process that you've seen produce good design? 2)what is the best approach to adding [a particular] animation?

Then Laura Prichard shared a unique 'wicked problem' that she has experienced recently and shared a brilliant solution she was able to create. (ask her more about it! really cool stuff)

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
