Meet-Up Details

Hi IxDF Tempe, let’s meet up and network over coffee! I’m new to the field so I would love the chance to gain any insights on getting that crucial first job. Any advice on projects for portfolio and any definite things to avoid doing or saying in an interview. Switching careers at 46 is scary but so very exciting. Maybe we will make a friend connection as well?! If anyone is interested just let me know and we can find a good location that’s close for all of us.

The meet and greet was a smashing success!! I’m so glad I made the meet up and I’m awfully grateful people showed up. Everyone had great insights to share and I made (what I hope they agree with) some new friends. I learned that a bootcamp is an acceptable way to learn a career and to make sure you tie in past experience from your other jobs into your new chosen career because skills transfer even when titles don’t. I learned that any effort you put into your Portfolio will be returned to you by your future employer because they want to SEE what you can do, but you also need to be able to speak about your thought process clearly and intelligently. If you can demonstrate that you have basic knowledge, passion, and work ethic, then you have major potential as an employee. Don’t be afraid to apply for junior roles. Apprenticeships are harder to come by so go for a junior role if you don’t see apprenticeships within any company. Remember that you ARE smart and likeable and gosh darn it you deserve to be happy and fulfilled by your career! Thanks again to all who came and I’ll text you all soon!
