Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)💡

Q: I don’t have any formal UX experience but I’m interested in the field- can I come to this event?

A: Yes! This event is open to anybody with any experience level. We strive to create a supportive environment to new and seasoned UXers alike.

Q: Is this only for UX Designers?

A: Nope-come one discipline, come all! UX Researchers, Writers, Designers… you name it, you’re welcome.

Q: Will this help me find a job?

A: My philosophy is that if you show up open to connecting with like-minded individuals and learning about other’s experiences, it will be valuable at some point in your career!

Q: Can I get there via public transportation?

A: Yes, this location is walkable from 19th street Oakland BART.

Q: Do I have to drink an alcoholic beverage?

A: Definitely not! There are plenty of NA options available. Two Pitchers also has food from Lovely’s - get a beer, get an ice cream cone, get both, or get none! You do you.

Q: Can I bring my dog?

A: Two Pitchers does allow dogs- just consider if it will distract you from connecting with the other people at the event. While I love dogs and have a fur baby myself, use your own discretion 😄

Q: Will it be awkward??

A: Only if you make it awkward 😏 Just remember, most of us will be strangers to each other, so we are all in meeting-for-the-first-time awkward solidarity.

Reminder- our meetup at Two Pitchers is in two days. I’ll wear a red turtleneck so I’m easy to spot. I’ll also bring signage for our table that indicates IxDF.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
