Paying proper attention to the Problem
Meet-Up Details
"It isn’t just ideological; it’s cultural. Speeding through the process of pushing stuff out into the world is an accepted, lauded mindset in technology and design. I have nothing against speed in moving from idea to prototype or launch, but moving TO the idea with haste is risky.
...most of our technology has been created as “one algorithm to serve them all.” And that algorithm, written by a team of people, represents that team’s understanding of the world. It represents their culture and history. It misses the history and experience and purposes of other people. Often the team does not preoccupy themselves about the missing perspectives"
Speaker Bio: Indi is a freelance researcher who writes and speaks about cognitive empathy, demographic assumptions, and software design. She is the wonder twin to data scientists. She brings the depth and breadth of qualitative research to explain big data trends via the painstaking detail of listening sessions with real people. She specializes in the problem space side of software design research. When paired with quantitative trends, user research, and usability insights, her mental model diagrams and thinking-style segments let your organization activate better support for far many more people. She began her career as a software engineer, moved into interaction design, worked with early tablets, and was one of the founders of Adaptive Path, the pioneering UX agency responsible for much teaching and many conferences, including UX Week.
We will be connecting with Indi via Zoom. But we will also be meeting in person as a group.
