Meet-Up Details

Hi IxDF Salt Lake City,

Based on the conversation from our last meetup we're going to be getting together and working on UX portfolios. In order to get a solid amount of work done this will be a "Studio" style event. We'll be working for about 4 hours (4PM to 8PM).

Everyone is invited to this event. If you're not an IxDF member, just show up.

We'll split this Studio into 4 parts:

  1. Education | What makes a strong portfolio? Who does it well?
  2. Critique | Group review and helpful feedback of existing portfolios.
  3. Food Time! | Bring $5 - $10 and we'll get Pizza!
  4. Work Time | Understand what to work on next and spend some time getting that done.

If you don't have any projects to put in your portfolio, we'll work on some. If you want help setting up an online portfolio, we'll have resources available to help with that as well.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Meet-Up Discussion

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss Portfolio Studio held on Sep 8, 2017. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Looking forward to sharing ideas on portfolios! Thanks to Seth and Nav for hosting us!

Nice! I'm excited to come and at least observe and get a feel for what a portfolio could look like (I don't have anything for one myself I don't believe). But, I'll be there. Thanks for setting this up!

Hello All,

I'm excited to meet and learn from you, as well as get some inspiration on building an effective UX portfolio. I also have a question for the group:

Seth, are there any issues with bringing or having food delivered for the group to Nav?

As the meeting is taking place from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, what are the groups thoughts on having a meal break at some point? I would be willing to contribute financially to a group pizza delivery should others wish to participate (or some other type of food based upon group consensus - I'm not picky!). If we can't arrive at a consensus, we could also bring our own meal for break time.

Feel free to chime in with thoughts, concerns, or suggestions!

Bryon

We're cool with having a break for food. Bring $5 - $10 and we'll get pizza.

Please log in or join us to post comments in the discussion.

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
