Hey everyone.

I believe that understanding UX is valuable for everyone, regardless of their background. That's why I would like create a space where we could share great and inspiring books everybody should read.

So it doesn't matter whether you're a seasoned UX designer, just starting out, or simply curious about how good design impacts our lives, we'd love for you to join our new online Prague UX Book Club!

What to Expect:

  • Always a new book: Every time we meet, we will have a new book to talk about.

  • Engaging discussions: We'll meet online (ideally monthly) to discuss a chosen book related to UX, design thinking, usability, or related topics. Our discussions will be friendly, informal and focused on learning from each other's perspectives and takeaways.

  • Flexible Format: Our online meetings will be Google Meet and will last max 1 hour. Usually in the Central Europe timezone.

Our First Book:

Let me kick off the first club be kicking things off with an epic book Designing Interactions by Bill Moggridge.

This fascinating book is very well written, contains many inspirational stories about how various designers came up to innovative solutions.

I am excited to learn more about UX books with you.

Best,

Michal Manak

Meetup Conversation

Hi all! Please use this conversation thread to discuss Prague UX Book Club held on Mar 25, 2025. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Good morning.

How are you doing?

We are meeting online in a week. I'm excited, as it's been a long time since my last meetup in Prague :). This one will be about one specific book, but I guess we could discuss a few more as we might have time.

I'm just checking if you have any questions, comments, or thoughts we could discuss here or during the meetup. Thank you in advance.

I am looking forward to meeting you.

Best regards,
Michal

👋🏻 Hi, what if I don’t know the book? How specific is the meeting gonna be? Thanks, G

Galina, thank you for the question.

The idea behind the UX Book club is to review and discuss a book we read. So it is about people gathering to discuss books they've read.

  • We could discuss main topics, important thoughts of the book

  • People could ask questions, share their perspective about those

  • Recommend similar books

So we can share our perspective, ideas, critique.

The book club could be a place people could join to learn new interesting books to read next time, but also get another point of view. I have an agenda we will go through. So it is fine if you don’t know the book, you are still very welcome to join. Maybe this book could be interesting for you.

Also it seems I need to better introduce the Book club next time. Thank you.

I hope it helps.

It does! Thank you! ☺️

Hi Michal, sorry maybe I missed it somewhere. Is there a selected book you know you will discuss or the picking process is going to happen at the beginning of the meetup?
Just wondering, how I can prepare for next time and read smth ahead с:

No worries. Thank you for asking.

The book we are going to discuss was mentioned in the meetup description:

Our First Book:
Let me kick off the first club be kicking things off with an epic book Designing Interactions by Bill Moggridge.

Today we are going to decide what to discuss next ;-). You will see. Thank you very much.

The link to join is here - https://meet.google.com/bhn-mjza-zih

Would you mind providing some feedback about why you didn’t join?

One person told me that it was a little bit hard to find the link. I also found that the event details disappeared right after the start date. Or even telling me you were just busy is fine :)

Thank you very much.

Meetup attendees

IxDF Members show their interest to attend a meetup by clicking the “Attend this meetup” button.

IxDF Members might also be bringing their non-member friends to the meetup (and you're welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meetups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
