Meetup Details

Hi IxDF Frankfurt,

let's meet online and discuss UX! In specific, I want us to learn and share experiences on usability testing remotely. So far, I just learned, it would be the last opportunity, to get a usability test run. Currently it´s my only opportunity. So lets take it as a chance to increase skills.

In our video call, let's get to know each other and share related problems we’re facing and discuss how we can solve them. Save the date, grab your laptop (or phone!), and let’s see each other online!

Hi my name is Cathrin,

First a short intro about me:
I´m a UX Designer in a technology developing & producing company in the B2B (business to business) market. The company I work for, Agilent Technologies, is creating and distributing laboratory analytical equipment and has about 16.000 employees worldwide. In the near of Karlsruhe, we have a site with about 1.200 people working. And there is the one Design team based that is supporting the entire company and in which I work for 5 years now.

Now how I got to the topic:
So far, I have experience with doing usability testing for HW and SW separately and HW+SW combined testing. Usually I build the prototypes, prepare the testing and guide the test participants through the test personally.
But now I am facing a special situation. The only way I could continue with usability testing would be doing it remotely, which I learned in my UX education, would be the least preferred way. Because of this comment I never did it and now it´s the time to learn it.

Now we all can learn from each other.
Does someone of you have some experience with remote usability testing and would like to share some insights with us? What are the benefits of testing remotely, what are the hurdles? What should be avoided and what shall we consider, when testing remotely?

Thank you very much!
Cathrin

Hello? Anybody here?

Hi folks,

ok, I must admit this didn´t work out at all. Which is a learning for me as well and I would still say it was worth it trying.

Best regards,

Cathrin

Meetup attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meetup by clicking “Attend this meetup” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meetups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meetup (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meetups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
