ABOUT STAMPEDE MAKERS

Designers—current and aspiring alike—make your way to aCAT Penang this March 2nd to join us for the first Stampede Makers meetup.

Stampede Makers is a bi-monthly meetup session hosted by designers at Stampede for our fellow designers in the community. We’re honoured to be working with aCAT and UX Penang to kickoff our first event in Georgetown. We’ll be alternating between different cities in Malaysia too in the future.

For this first event, we want to share our own experience overcoming challenges faced by designers at all levels. You may be asking yourself questions like:

1. What do UI/UX designers really do?
2. How is UI, UX and Product design different?
3. Do designers need to code?
4. How do I collaborate effectively with developers?
5. How do I get business to approve my design?
6. What is Design Thinking and how do I use it?

If you’re asking these questions, then this event is for you.

HOW TO BE A DESIGNER WITHOUT LOSING IT

Being a designer is a demanding career path to choose with its own unique stresses and challenges. Designers love what they do and find it an immensely rewarding experience, but that doesn’t mean we don’t scream inside and occasionally want to tear our hair out.

Creative burnout, looming deadlines, defending your work and lacking creative control are a few of the daily stresses we all face as designers. Pile on the shifting landscape of design, UX and product design and service design, it can easily get overwhelming and confusing for creatives who want to practise their craft.

Our speaker, Shaza Hakim, Stampede’s Co-Founder and UX Principal, will address these questions and more as she shares her journey to becoming a designer. She will provide advice and actionable steps on what to learn and how to go about practising design.

Whether you’re a new to the field or as seasoned as one of salt bae’s steaks, you will find the stories behind 14 years of design at Stampede relevant to your growth as a designer. Our panelists will feature three Stampede designers working at strategic, structural and surface-level design: Shaza Hakim, Mujib Jazmin and Fadzlina Fuad moderated by our UX Strategist, Zo-Ee Chee.

Who this event is for:
- Aspiring designers
- Beginners in the design field
- Mid-level and senior designers
- Those interested in UI and UX design
- People in the startup industry
- People from traditional businesses looking to learn more about design
