What are Local Groups?
Local Groups will expand your career network—whether you are interested in learning new skills, finding job opportunities or looking for a new employee.
A Local Group is a group of people who, like you, are passionate about design. Local Groups organize meetings to get inspired, have fun and learn from one another.

Meet-Up Details

Join us to hear from Lyn Bain about UX in the world of Agile!

Companies want to “be” Agile. They think they know what they want when they say that. They think they know how they want “Agile” to work. Developers have so many resources, support groups, training classes, and certificates. The rituals, artifacts, and processes generally concentrate on managing development tasks. User researchers and designers end up having to figure out how to fit in.

As a consultant working with a huge variety of companies of all sizes (and even companies that offer Agile project management software!), Lyn has seen this work so many different ways with all different levels of success (mostly a lack of success). Lyn will cover some of the anti-patterns in the world of Agile, implementing Research and Design Sprints, advocating for design tasks and goals, and UX debt when iteration just isn’t happening. We can tell our stories and share our successes/failures as a group!

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
