Meet-Up Discussion

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss UX meet up held on May 31, 2023. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Santa Monica? West Hollywood? Downtown LA?

I live on the far east, West Covina, and it’d be great if we can meet in central LA.

I’m also in West Covina, so I concur on something more central.

There’s a nice little coffee/snack place called Paper and Plastik that is located in mid city:
Indoor and outdoor seating is available.
5772 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90019.
Would this be a good location for all to join? If so, let me know! I would be driving down from Harbor City :)

How about the Glendale area? north of LA..

I live east, West Covina, I am glad that you guys are located in West Covina. Would be good somewhere in East La, Monrovia, Pasadena, Arcadia or somewhere ls. I exited to meet you guys.

Let’s start voting where by mid next week. :) looking forward to chat and meet everyone.

Hey all! I made a group on the app Signal if anyone wants to join. It might make communication a little easier and we can use emoji reactions to vote on a location. Here’s the link for anyone who is interested:

I named the group IxDf Los Angeles and there should be an emoji w/ a little coconut and two straws (thought that info would be helpful to know you’ve joined the right group chat, lol). :)

Just outside West Covina here as well! :D

Hello everyone, What do you guys think of meeting at Huntington Gardens? Admission is $25. It’s a beautiful place to meet and talk. Enough parking spot. Not too loud or busy….And it's inspiring peaceful place for our first meet up experience.
This is a nice meeting place, if we can meet earlier, since they close at 5. Also, How about the Descansco Garden? They close at 7pm. Admission is $15.

Descanso is definitely too far for me. Huntington is beautiful, but $25 for a meetup seems pricey.

If inspirational locale is a priority, there’s the Arlington Garden in Pasadena, which is free. I haven’t been there, but Yelp reviews says there’s lots of seating and easy parking. https://www.arlingtongardenpasadena.org/about/

If coffee/tea/refreshments are a priority, there are numerous cafes in Pasadena. Copa Vida has a decent amount of seating and 90 min free parking across the street. https://goo.gl/maps/9HYMqLcRyAihJcMh6

There’s a gastro-pub and a bar on the north side of the parking garage with outdoor seating, if that’s preferable.

I’m most familiar with Pasadena, but if people have suggestions for more central LA/downtown, that’s cool.

Have we decided on a place yet? I’m good with Pasadena or central LA/downtown area if that’s a good, middle place to meet for all.

Hey everyone. Let’s meet at Arlington Gardens! Bring your canister of drink and snacks. There’s seatings there.

*** let’s meet around 1:00 pm - does that work for everybody?

We can always go grab early dinner afterwards if you want to chat some more..

Have a great weekend

Open for any time suggestions and place. Or is the garden and time suitable for everybody?

I thought the meetup was supposed to happen at 5pm?

Hey, i am just suggesting an earlier time. If not, 5:00pm works. Lets see by tonight. 🙌🏽

5 pm is good with me

Arlington Gardens / Pasadena works. I have a volunteer shift starting at 8:30pm - so slightly earlier might be better for my own timeline.

Yea, I think a bit earlier is good since 5pm is traffic time..How’s 4:00pm?

Hello. Looking forward to meeting tomorrow at Arlington Gardens. I’ll be there at 4pm since the park closes at 6.

4 pm is great too. Where’s the meeting point in Arlington Gardens? Can we get your number, @Camille Tamayo, in case we can’t find the group?

First time there. So we’ll find a spot. Meet and walk to the benches.

818-631-3137

4pm, right? Currently stuck in traffic >.<

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
