Emotional Design: Evoke Emotional Responses Through Design
When you design a product or service, you’re designing for more than your users’ needs and goals. Sure, your designs need to help users achieve their goal without friction or delay—but equally importantly, your designs need to consider the natural emotional responses of your users.
Emotions are a huge part of how we navigate the world around us and the information within it. From the first time your user encounters your product, there’s a series of emotional responses that influence whether they stay with you or leave. Understanding these emotional responses—and their causes—will give your design skills newfound power.
To understand emotional responses, you need to explore the theory and practice of the psychology of emotions. And in this Master Class webinar, Susan Weinschenk and Guthrie Weinschenk of The Team W will help you explore emotional design through the lens of psychology.
You’ll learn:
- The role that emotions play in attention and decision making
- How to measure emotions when people are using or reacting to products and content
- How to take emotions into account during design
With Susan and Guthrie’s help, you’ll discover valuable insights from brain science and behavior to maximize positive emotional engagement with your users. You’ll understand how to tap into the unconscious processes that are at play when users interact with your product. You’ll ultimately bring a new level of sophistication and research-driven methods into your design practice.
