Charles Lenay

Author: Charles Lenay

Ph.D

As a professor in Philosophy and History of sciences (2005) Charles Lenay research interests concern the question of cognitive technologies: how do tools and technical devices participate in cognitive activity in the broad sense - reasoning, memory, perception, social interaction... Starting from work on sensory substitution, the minimalist experimental paradigm that he developed allows a dialogue between phenomenology (description of the experience) and psychology (explanation of the perceptual activity). Area of research prof. Lenay include:
Perceptual supplementation - Sensory substitution
Social interaction - Perceptual crossing
Phenomenology
Epistemology of cognitive science

Between 2007 and 2011, Charles Lenay was director of the Research Unit EA2223 COSTECH (Knowledge, Organisation and Technical Systems) at UTC, Compiègne University of Technology. After serving as Vice-President of the French Association for Cognitive Research (ARCo), he created in 1995 the Perceptual Supplementation Group (GSP) in the framework of this Research Unit.
He has Ph.D in Philosophie and History, and since 2004. he is professor on Université de Technologie de Compiègne.
