Menelaos Pappas holds a Diploma (5-years degree) in Mechanical Engineering (2002, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, University of Patras, Greece) and a Ph.D. (Dr.-Eng.) in the field of Digital Human Modeling for Computer-Aided Ergonomics in Product & Process Design (2009, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, University of Patras, Greece). He has been Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Western Macedonia since fall of 2010 where he is teaching courses in Computer Aided Manufacturing for Industrial Production. He has also the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Technological Educational Institute (T.E.I.) of Western Macedonia, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Kozani, Greece (Courses: Computer Aided Design Optimization (CAD/CAM/CAE Systems) & Mechanical Drawing II) and at the Technological Educational Institute (T.E.I.) of Larissa, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Larissa, Greece (Courses: CNC Machine Tools, Engineering Design & Design of Steel Structures). He has more than 7 years of technical and management experience in National and European research projects, through his position as Senior Research Engineer at the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems and Automation - LMS (Dept. of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, University of Patras, Greece). His research skills include among others: Virtual Reality Applications in Product Design & Manufacturing, Collaborative Virtual Environments, Digital Human Modeling, Computer Aided Ergonomic Design & Production and Evaluation of Vehicle Safety Systems Effectiveness. He has 27 scientific publications in international scientific journals, chapter's books and refereed conferences, which they have collected 47 citations. He has also contributed in the revision of the book Manufacturing Systems: Theory and Practice (2nd Edition). He has performed labs/seminars on Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Virtual Reality (VR), Design For Assembly (DFA) and Statistical Process Control (SPC), under the undergraduate level's course of Manufacturing Technology I & II (lectures given by Prof. G. Chryssolouris). He has also supervised more than 10 undergraduate student's theses. He acts as a reviewer in the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics - Part A, since July 2005, in the International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing, since June 2007 and finally he is member of the Editorial Review Board of the Scientific Journals International (SJI), since May 2009. Finally, he is a member of the European Association for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (EuroVR).
