Ph.D
Sonja is Senior Lecturer in Digital Media Design at Swinburne University since January 2012; contributing extensive knowledge of human-computer interaction (HCI) to the teaching of digital media design.
Sonja has over a decade of experience in teaching and conducting research in human-computer interaction and is a member of the Interaction Design Group in the Department of Information Systems at The University of Melbourne since 2002. Her work includes a wide range of research projects across different departments at The University of Melbourne: Culture and Communications, Information Systems, Computer Science & Software Engineering; and at Swinburne University of Technology for the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies.
Sonja has authored over 30 book chapters, journal articles and conference papers, several upon invitation. Her research interests are user-centred design methods, scenario-based and mobile design, agent-based modelling, domestic technology development, and the design of enjoyable novel technologies for various user groups, in particular for the ageing population.
Sonja was employed as an interaction designer, usability consultant and product manager in industry for several years. Since 2006 she has free-lanced on several interaction design projects including website design, software design and research-based future scenarios.
