Jeffrey S. Pierce

Author: Jeffrey S. Pierce

Ph.D

Jeffrey S. Pierce is Research Scientist at Carnegie Mellon University, Computer Science Department. He got Ph.D in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, 2001. His research interests include 3D interaction techniques
for both desktop and immersive environments, making 3D
graphics more accessible to novices, augmenting
handheld devices to facilitate fluid interaction. As a member of the Stage 3 Research Group he has spent
many an hour helping to develop Alice, an easy-to-use
authoring tool for building interactive 3D worlds.

While interning with Alan Kay and his team at Disney
Imagineering he built a version of Alice in Squeak.

His advisor, Randy Pausch, and he handled most of the
playtesting for the high end attractions at DisneyQuest.
